Graduate job hunters in Yorkshire may be glad to know that 2010 will bring increased opportunities for those looking to get into the utilities sector. Yorkshire Water has announced that it will boost its graduate numbers from eight to 13 next year in order to cope with the two-fold rise in applications from degree-holders in the past 12 months. According to the Bradford Telegraph & Argus, its graduate scheme involves a two-year course which will provide training in a wide range of positions at the firm, followed by an offer of permanent employment for all participants. Nicola Rowledge, co-ordinator of the graduate jobs scheme, told the newspaper: "While tough economic times have seen many companies downsize or scrap their graduate programme altogether this year, we're continuing to develop and grow our graduate programme." Personnel Today recently reported that computing giant IBM will increase the number of graduate jobs it provides from 94 to 150 in 2010.
