Finance director optimism boost for graduates

Finance director optimism boost for graduates Graduate job hunters may be interested to hear that optimism among finance directors is growing, which will doubtless lead to a surfeit of degree-level employment opportunities in the coming months.

According to a survey by Robert Half, nearly a fifth (17 per cent) of the UK's chief financial officers (CFOs) said that their companies would be looking to hire permanent accounting and finance staff over the next six months - a sixteen per cent improvement on 2009.

Recent university leavers in London might benefit from the fact that CFOs located in this region were the optimistic as one-third (29 per cent) said they would resume hiring in the next six months, HR magazine reports.

Phil Sheridan, managing director of Robert Half UK, told the magazine: "Our index shows that finance leaders anticipate an eventual upturn in the UK market and are planning their hiring strategies accordingly.

"The increase in confidence currently being felt by finance chiefs is promising for jobseekers looking for either permanent or temporary positions."

This news comes soon after a report by the Incomes Data Services showed that graduate jobs in the financial sector could increase this year.ADNFCR-834-ID-19668896-ADNFCR
