British people are prepared to change jobs and even switch careers in their drive to find perfection
The research conducted by first direct revealed that almost seven million (28 per cent) workers move from their current jobs including sales recruitment, to find that perfect job, with the perfect boss and an improved working environment.
The perfect bosses are few and far between, which means that more than one in 10 (12 per cent) of workers have looked to new careers in their search, and one in 20 (five per cent) have decided to try their own hand at being their own boss by setting up their own business.
The research also revealed that there are some lessons to be learned for bosses to improve there workplace. Qualities managers should have are Approachability, being a good communicator, supportive, good leader, and respect the staff as individuals. These findings found that many managers are in need of leadership training and development to gain these qualities.
Also when working under a bad boss it affects the bottom line, employees will have a loss of motivation and productivity, and one in 5 taking ‘sickies’. There were 9 out of 10 employees who also believed that their boss was not inspiring and didn’t gain any motivation from them. Matt Colebrook first direct CEO said, "When it comes to fostering British creativity at work, it seems many managers are holding back the true potential of their staff. More than three quarters of workers (77 per cent) think their boss does not encourage new ideas or allow self-expression.”
