Nando's, the peri-peri chicken restaurant, is set to increase the amount of positions on its graduate recruitment scheme and plans to give candidates the experience of working in every aspect of the business. The firm announced that it is set to take on six to eight graduates in 2010, as opposed to the four it employed in 2009 and, due to the scope of the programme, candidates with degrees from all kinds of disciplines could benefit. In an interview with Recruiter magazine, Sean Thomas, Nando's head of HR, said: "It's very early days, but I think it should give the people coming in the opportunity to experience all parts of the business. "And it should test them and give them responsibility to deliver - and show themselves to be the talent they are identified to be." He added that he hopes to develop the scope of the programme to include more universities and to provide more development opportunities for the successful applicants. Nando's was founded in Johannesburg in 1987 and now operates in 26 countries and on five continents.
