Graduate job hunters who left university with a qualification in IT may be interested to hear that a new report from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has shown that there are a large number of skilled IT graduates in the market. The REC claims that this scenario is good recruiters as it gives them access to a large amount of possible employees who have the ideal skills needed to tackle emerging systems such as SQL, .Net and Linux. Jeff Brooks, chair of the REC's technology group, said: "It is encouraging to see this growth in demand. Our members are showing increasing confidence in the sector and many of them are looking to hire more recruiters as a result. "It is very encouraging to see that companies will still invest in technology to develop their businesses even when there is a tough economic landscape." The most recent Demand and Supply report shows the number of ICT professionals at the end of 2009 at 1,041,000, which is a four per cent year-on-year drop when compared to the end of 2008.
