Graduates looking to break into the IT sector have been handed a boost by the news that 85 jobs have been created at an Irish technology firm. Seagate Technologies in Londonderry, Northern Ireland is having £60 million invested in a move that will create jobs at the Springtown plant as part of a plan to boost technology and research in the city. Acting First Minister Arelene Foster said: "Seagate is once again demonstrating its confidence in our local workforce and suppliers and is helping send a very strong signal to other potential international investors that the north-west is a competitive and compelling location." The firm already employs 1,400 people so any new employees will not be short of colleagues. Research released earlier this week suggested that graduates who go on to take a postgraduate course go on to earn 15 per cent more than peers who obtained just a first class degree.
