Graduate job hunters may be interested to hear the views of the Centre for Retail Research (CRR) which has predicted a strong summer for the retail sector on the back of the good weather. Joshua Bamfield, director of the CRR, said that a combination of increased consumer confidence and a prediction of excellent weather this summer in the UK, could allow retail sales to cope with the uncertainty surrounding the general election. He added: "I think the key impact on retail sales is the fact that the sun is shining, people are feeling a lot more confident, the world didn't end last year and so [people] will carry on shopping. "I think there will be a general election effect but that it will actually be quite small compared to the impact of there being no more snow, warm evenings and the fact that you can have some people round for a beer and a barbeque." Data from the British Retail Consortium and KPMG's Retail Sales Monitor showed that retail sales values rose 4.4 per cent year-on-year in March.
