'Graduates up against more competition'

'Graduates up against more competition' Graduate job hunters may be interested to hear the views of a recruitment expert who has claimed that there has been a rise in people looking for new roles.

Lisette Howlett, spokesperson for Hirescores.com, said that this was down to the recession and the varying effects it had on employment, including an increase in the number of candidates wanting to change careers.

She added: "In terms of graduate job entry, the very significant decrease in graduate intakes during the peak of the recession means that in sectors which have traditionally recruited a large number of graduates each year, applications this year could include graduates of previous years thus increasing the competition."

Ms Howlett made her comments in the wake of a release from totaljobs.com that said competition for jobs is getting tougher and that renewed confidence in the employment market has uncovered a 'hidden unemployment'.

The three leaders of the main political parties will be discussing the economy in the third and final leaders' debate on BBC this Thursday (April 29th).ADNFCR-834-ID-19744254-ADNFCR
