Northern Ireland technology firm Schrader Electronics announced today (February 2nd) it has created 30 new jobs and plans to continue its graduate recruitment scheme in 2010, the Belfast Telegraph has reported. The company has been boosted by the news of an impending piece of European legislation that means tyre pressure monitoring systems - which it produces - will be required in all newly manufactured cars. The requirement, which should come into place between 2012 and 2014, could see the firm double in size by the time of its adoption to law. Schrader's managing director told the paper: "These new jobs are all about getting ourselves geared up for this fantastic growth opportunity. "The first six months of 2009 were very tough, but we took a decision to keep everybody on board. We had a no redundancy policy and we cut our costs through a hiring freeze and a pay freeze. But we came back strongly in the second half of the year and we've even seen a further upturn in the first month of 2010." Schrader plans to take on ten to 12 graduates as part of its ongoing scheme, which should interest recent university leavers.
