With the UK economy growing at a quicker pace than expected there is a larger demand for sales hunters rather than sales farmers in the mentality of sales teams. The UK internet economy has seen the need for social digital marketers, and is challenging recruitment agencies to keep up-to-date with the fast moving technology in online marketing. Shown in the recent report from Google claimed the UK internet economy is worth £100bn annually and is growing at 10% a year, directly employing 250,000 people.
The UK’s latest GDP figures of a 0.8% increase instead of a predicted 0.4%, shows that there is a conjunctive effort to hunt for new business instead of waiting for it to turn up or just nurturing the business they already have. This means that business development people are in high demand, business are looking for people with the skills to develop business from scratch rather than using customer relationship managers or account managers.
Therefore there are increased opportunities for sales departments to develop the required skills to develop business; however finding the right digital marketer to increase client prospects is becoming increasingly hard with the ever changing online marketing world. This has therefore seen a clear shift in job roles between managing current customers to gaining new customers.
