Small businesses talk of investment in graduates

Small businesses talk of investment in graduates Graduate job hunters may be interested to hear that two business leaders have said that the next step for management is to invest in staffing and employee engagement, which should boost any degree-level applicants' job hopes.

Sahar Hashemi, the founder of Coffee Republic said that managers are now spending considerably more time on moving the business forward (30 per cent) when in the past they spent just a tenth of their time doing so.

He added: "Companies are very visionary when they first begin, but lose track as they become established. People are now saying; 'let's go back to basics, and figure out the future of this company.' According to our research this is where people are now focusing."

Rob Shardlow, sales director for small and medium businesses at Vodafone UK, said management in this country should be looking to "immerse" themselves in the marketplace and invest in young talent.

He said: "While focusing on customers too, take the time out to educate, reward and understand the needs of your own team. A team working together is a team which is very productive."ADNFCR-834-ID-19706105-ADNFCR
