Graduate recruitment will be affected by the rise in tuition fees

affect of tuition feesGraduate recruitment may see an adverse affect from the tuition fee rises set to take place in 2012

As the rise in tuitions fees draws closer many graduate recruiters are getting increasingly concerned about the negative effect it may have on the number of graduates in the future.

Many companies are beginning to target students at a younger age in a bid to attract the ‘best’ graduates, starting to incorporate apprenticeships in their recruitment drive.

Although the tuition fees doesn’t particularly mean that students out of university because they don’t pay it back until they reach a certain wage packet, the belief is students will forgo university in a bid to pursuit a career early on.

The hard decision for students is whether they want to take on the burden of graduate debt which has increased dramatically, or enter the world of work after college. An added benefit of increased fees means that undertaking the degree shows a clear personal commitment to higher education which graduate employers will look upon favourably.  It will also make the ‘joke’ degrees much less appealing meaning that there are more people applying high end degrees.
