Job applicants should ensure the wording on their CV is not too pedestrian if they want to stand out to employers, it has been claimed. Research by search and selection site The Ladders.co.uk found that many recruiters are bored and unimpressed by many words and phrases which crop up regularly on CVs, reports Onrec. According to a panel of business experts, words and phrases such as "adventurous" and "seeks a challenge" are banal and suggest a candidate may become bored easily. Commenting on the issue, Sarah Drew, general manager of TheLadders.co.uk says: "It's incredible how one word can communicate the wrong notion on your CV. "A CV is a window to who you are and should be used as a tool to communicate what you want your potential employer to know, i.e. what an asset you would be. "So spend some time getting the words right as using the wrong vocabulary can give them the wrong impression before they’ve even met you!"
