'Avoid lying on applications', graduates warned

'Avoid lying on applications', graduates warned Despite rising unemployment levels among university leavers, desperate graduate job hunters have been deterred from putting lies onto their applications, one expert has claimed.

Phil Flaxton, chief executive of Work Wise UK, explained that graduate employers will be on the look out for inappropriate tactics due to the volume of CVs they are receiving in the competitive market.

"I can appreciate that people are in very difficult times, especially as unemployment is set to rise even further next year … but there is a certain protocol and one has got to retain one's self respect," Mr Flaxton commented.

He advised improving applications by making sure they are concise and accurate along with boosting job prospects by coming across as enthusiastic in an interview.

Independent design company Serif recently told Onrec.com that a personal brand could be an alternative way for graduates to make employers stand up and take notice of CVs.
