There will be an influx of final year graduates and students applying for graduate jobs this summer

class of 2011 150Demand for graduate jobs is set to increase as students set to graduate in 2011 are added to the pile of unemployed and underemployed graduates looking for a graduate job

The outlook for graduate jobs is similar to that of 2010 and is slowly growing in confidence with many graduate employers expecting to hire 9.4% more graduates than in 2010.

More than half of The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers expect to expand their graduate recruitment programmes in 2011. Ten organisations have announced that they will be recruiting an additional 50 graduates on top of their original intake of 2010.

There are a significant number of graduate vacancies to be available this year in the IT and Telecoms industry, but the accounting and professional services firms are set to see the biggest expansion of graduate jobs with 350 additional graduates during the 2011 recruitment season.

It is clear from the data taken from the High Fliers graduate market in 2011 research that the outlook for students and graduates is improving, although 32% (5,600 positions) won’t be available to the class of 2011 due to companies looking for experience previously with the company or relevant industry.
