The Co-operative group has stated it is receiving a large amount of applications for its graduate jobs
The co-operative group are offering graduate jobs through England, which is receiving high interest from graduates looking for jobs in Manchester.
In the six weeks since the launch of the graduate jobs available the large retailer has received over a 1,000 applications for just fewer than 20 positions at its head office alone.
Rachel Rotherham, who is the companies graduate programme manager, admitted that she is astounded by the 65% rise in applications in comparison to the same period in 2009.
"Last year, we received nearly 2,500 applications for 19 graduate places and, just looking at the numbers received already, we are set to receive a record number of applications this year. "The candidates applying for these positions are of a consistently high calibre, so we want to advise graduates to apply quickly to avoid disappointment."
With this amount of competition Ms Rotherham has advised the graduates applying to ensure that they make the most of skills sessions, careers fairs and the information available on organisations websites to perform better during the application process.
