Effective integration essential to employers

Talent management firm Taleo has claimed that employers need to ensure that they have an adequate induction process in place to integrate new employees to the firm.

A study by Taleo Research has found that employers spend around £665 on the induction process for each employee but the firm has claimed that this figure could rise as more and more jobs are created.

Taleo claims that January, as well as the summer when graduates begin searching for jobs, is important in regard to this matter as many people will be looking to change their jobs in the New Year.

However, Taleo has also said that the process of inducting new employees, often known as onboarding, can vary from firm to firm.

On the Online Recruitment website, Taleo has stated: "The onboarding process can vary significantly. It can either be a well-managed and speedy path to employee contribution, or an ineffective and costly hiring headache.

"With 30,713 jobs created last January and this figure expected to rise this year, the importance of having an efficient induction scheme to get new employees up and running is essential."

Taleo claims that the onboarding process can be made simpler by adopting IT systems that can monitor and update employee integration through flowcharts, data profiling, spreadsheets and databases.
