Graduates are finding new ways to increase their employability skills

employability skills grads 150With the students of 2010/2011 set to graduate soon the UK’s job market is going to get a massive influx of graduate job seekers

Even though we are out of the recession, there is still a high rate of unemployment, especially in the 16 to 24 age group and the amount of graduates competing for each graduate job means there is going to be a lot more graduates unemployed.

The amount of roles has increased, yet this isn’t in line with the increase in graduates who will be unemployed. This has meant that many graduates are turning to temporary contracts, internships and work experience in a bid to gain the skills necessary to enhance their CV and chances of having the edge over other graduates.

Graduate schemes remain to be over subscribed, graduates are going to have to show skills that other graduates may not possess, which puts the students set to graduate this summer at a disadvantage to the ones who have already graduated and gained work experience.

The graduates of 2010/2011 will have to go the same way as the previous graduates and taken on jobs that otherwise would go unwanted to gain some experience before applying to graduate jobs. Yet as the job market starts to pick up then the recent graduates shouldn’t have to wait too long before more companies expand their graduate recruitment programmes.
