The fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector is continuing to experience strong sales growth, it has emerged. In total, the market is worth more than £115 billion per year, Talking Retail reports. Additionally, the sector is growing at 5.7 per cent, the news provider's figures reveal, which may be good news for graduates seeking FMCG sales jobs. This growth is being fuelled by "an underlying change in both consumer behaviour and consumer expectations," according to the article. It describes how consumers are demanding more from food retailers, including ethical brands, healthy options, convenient packaging and premium, indulgent items. "The appeal of one-stop shopping is not just for the new non-food sectors - there is growth across most categories and in particular fresh foods and premium and convenience foods," it continues. Responding to these changing customer expectations has contributed to a growth in the industry as a whole, it concludes. In related recruitment news, recent research by KPMG and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation revealed that the biggest concern for UK firms is hiring talented employees.
