Companies have to fend of competition from many avenues for top graduates if they want to find the best graduates in the recruitment drive
Recruitment agencies and in house recruitment teams need to be particularly alert in the current employment market for graduates as a talent war is starting to appear. Nimai Swaroop, group head of employer branding and marketing at the Royal Bank of Scotland commented that “In the graduate space we have a good influx of candidates because we reward very well, but more offers are coming out to top performers in organisations, so hyper-agility is required in certain areas,”
Iain McLaughlin head of recruitment for KPMG UK also said that value comes from responding quickly. He also noted that he has had many instances where graduates have declined places they had been offered on graduate schemes because many graduates are applying to various graduate schemes and receive multiple offers.
Companies also have to become more adaptable in their recruitment drive, with the increase in graduate applications this is increasing the overall cost of recruitment, which means many firms will be turning towards recruitment agencies to sift through the applicants to find the best graduate talent available.
