Massive graduate demand has lead Ernst & Young to open up their graduate scheme early
The graduate job market remains fiercely competitive with Ernst & Young reporting a 140% increase in applications for their graduate recruitment scheme with over 3000 applications for just 800 positions. Applications for their undergraduate work experience programs have also seen a large increase with 1700 applications for just 750 positions, with students obviously seeing the need to improve their job prospects before there degree has even finished.
Stephen Isherwood, Head of graduate recruitment at Ernst & Young has urged graduates to be organised when applying for jobs and that they may also have to be flexible on job location he commented “Having already received four applications for every place on our graduate trainee scheme, students need to get organised if they want to secure their dream job after finishing university and start applying for vacancies.” He went on further to comment that graduates “do not need to despair”, there are graduate jobs out there but that graduates “would need to be proactive and flexible” or else they will “miss out”.
