Graduate job hopes increase after recruitment rises for sixth month in a row

Graduate job hopes increase after recruitment rises for sixth month in a row Graduate job hunters will be interested to hear that the number of permanent staff placements grew for the sixth consecutive month in January 2010, while the figure for job vacancies was at its highest since July 2007.

The statistics from the Report on Jobs from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG showed the outlook for graduate job hunters continues to be positive.

Collated using data from 400 recruitment consultancies, the report revealed that vacancies grew for the fourth month in a row and that the amount of candidates looking for work also dropped.

Bernard Brown, partner and head of business services at KPMG, said "The UK jobs market is continuing its journey back to health.

"Placements of permanent and temporary jobs have been rising again in January, although at a slower pace than a month before, a reminder that the road to recovery will be bumpy."

This news comes as an extra boost to the UK economy after it was revealed last month that the country was officially out of recession, albeit by only 0.1 per cent.ADNFCR-834-ID-19595441-ADNFCR
