Graduate job hunters should look towards SME’s for a graduate role

lecturers walk out 150SME’s set to lead the way in graduate jobs as they are set to create 8% more graduate roles

It was recently found that working for small SME’s can have better job satisfaction. According to the Manpower employment outlook survey it was found that when graduates are looking for a graduate job, currently small is better.

The national outlook for graduate jobs is the best since 2008, with candidates with skills in the IT and Engineering sectors the most important. Mark Cahill, the UK managing director of Manpower commented ‘Candidates sometimes assume that bigger is better when it comes to employers, but these statistics clearly point to the opposite. SMEs were among the first to shed jobs during the recession, but we’re now seeing them build their workforce again and becoming an increasingly important source of job creation in the UK.’

The finance and business sector was the most positive with a growth of 10% in more jobs. The public sector is still struggling from the cuts and expects a further 2% of job losses, with larger businesses also reducing their recruitment, and remaining flat.
