Graduate recruitment is set to rise in 2013

According to a new survey by CareerBuilder.co.uk, graduates can expect up to 20% higher starting salaries than they did in 2011. 17% of employers are also planning to recruit more graduates next year than this year, with more than half planning to hire 10 graduates or more, and 29% planning on taking on 11 to 50.

It is encouraging to see that many graduate employers are beginning to get more confident in the graduate recruitment market. With many employers taking on recent graduates with plans to increase the intake of graduates next year.

“Employers across the UK are placing a strong emphasis on recruiting fresh talent for positions designed to drive revenue - and in certain areas -they’re willing to pay more for high-skill, educated labour” said Tony Roy, President of CareerBuilder EMEA.

The survey of 100 employers across the UK found that employers are keen to hire recent university graduates in Information Technology, Sales, Business Development and Marketing. Employers are looking for graduates with strong written and verbal communication skills followed by technical and math skills. Employers are stressing to graduates that the need for written, verbal and numerical skills as they struggle to fill roles.
