Graduate job hunters may be interested to hear that the number of creative and media sector jobs has risen by a fifth since September 2009, according to research from recruiter Major Players. The firm's research also showed that in the six months leading up to March 2010, there were 25 per cent more jobs available while in the same period there were 20 per cent less employment applications, Recruiter reports. Jack Gratton, the firm's chief executive, told the news provider: "This is great news and illustrates how the whole industry is beginning to pick itself up and get on with business. "However, we will be monitoring the whole market closely to see if confidence levels continue to rise throughout the year." In the recent economic downturn advertising budgets were slashed across the world and as a result creative industries such as television and print media were hit hard, leading to a number of redundancies.
