Recent university leavers unfortunate enough to have not made it through a graduate job interview may be handed a reprieve after a number of firms revealed they were happy to give applicants a second chance. The degree-level job market is incredibly competitive and all it can take to not make through to the next stage of a recruitment process is a bad day during an interview, Accountancy Age reports. But, Steven Rolls, head of human resources at Deloitte, says his firm has a procedure that allows graduates to reapply after 12 months have elapsed, to help them overcome the problems that may have resulted in their rejection in the first place. He told the news provider: "With experienced hires, we don't have the same policy. We would expect candidates to be applying for more than one job at a time across different firms. "Whatever the final outcome, we want them to take away the message that they should keep us in mind should other opportunities arise." PricewaterhouseCoopers and NPower recently took the steps to change the way they hire graduates, placing more importance on practical ability than academic achievement.
