'Graduates should be helped through recession'

'Graduates should be helped through recession' Graduate job hunters may be interested to hear the thoughts of a policy and development expert who has insisted that, if given the right support, young people who want to work can be helped into jobs.

Ms Ginny Lunn, director of policy and development at the Prince's Trust, said that more investment needs to be made into organisations like her employer, which can run schemes to put recent university leavers into work or training.

She added: "The recession has hit young people hardest, with one in five now facing the downward spiral of unemployment. With the right support we can help these young people into jobs and training -in turn helping our economy recover.

"Young people want to work and there are detrimental consequences for those who can't find jobs. Young people are at 'psychological scarring'".

A recent report from the Prince's Trust showed that more than a quarter (28 per cent) of youngsters claim that unemployment caused them to exercise less, with around one in six of those currently out of work (17 per cent) getting no exercise at all.ADNFCR-834-ID-19676886-ADNFCR
