There are significant employment opportunities in the IT sector, although the skills gap may widen this year, an expert has claimed. According to a recent IT Job Board survey, 72 per cent of respondents thought they would struggle to fill their roles, which may be of note to graduates considering a career in the sector. Fahim Rashid, senior contractors' consultant at IT recruiter Circle Recruitment, told Recruiter that it can be difficult to find the right combination of skills in a candidate. However, Peter Breeze, director of IT recruiter Blue Pelican Group, said the supposed skills gap is having little effect on areas such as analytics, marketing and pharmaceutical. "If you concentrate on niche markets, like we do, it is less of a problem," he said. Mr Breeze added that he expects his company will have some 200 vacancies in January.
