Recruiters in the IT sector are optimistic about the UK jobs market
Many graduate employers are complaining about the lack of skills in new graduates, yet IT recruiters are optimistic about the UK job market, according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).
A meeting of technology recruiters in March has revealed that companies are upbeat about the prospects of planning to hire more sales people into IT roles and technology roles within the private sector.
Although some employers are still complaining about the lack of skills in graduates for highly skilled IT jobs, there is a need for recruiters to report back to the government and the education sector on what the current and future skills needs are.
“Lobby the government for a careers guidance network that is fit for purpose and delivers the pipeline of skills and competencies that we need." He also highlighted another priority to "play a leading role in actively promoting careers in growth sectors by working with schools and employment schemes.” The meeting also found that there is a nine-month high in growth in permanent placements, where technology roles are the most in-demand. Also employer confidence in recruitment is at its highest point for the last 12 months.
