Jobs market 'becoming more global'

Jobs market 'becoming more global' International recruitment is becoming increasingly commonplace in today's jobs market, according to new research.

A recent study conducted by online recruiter The Network indicated that 69 per cent of respondents from 18 different countries said they were interested in overseas jobs.

Furthermore, some 39 per cent said an international job was always a consideration for them, while 30 per cent said they would accept such a job if they deemed it appropriate, which may be of note to graduates interested in overseas opportunities.

Steven Lewis, managing director of The Network said the study suggests the jobs market has become "more global".

"Specialists are more open-minded to jobs abroad. This means that recruiters alike have to position themselves as an international employer brand, to win the global war for talents," he said.

"We are convinced that international recruitment will become an important part of companies HR-strategy moving forward."

In contrast, a similar study by the recruiter in 2006 found an international job was interesting to just 62 per cent of participants.
