Graduate job hunters may be interested to hear the results of a new jobs report which highlights marked increases in staff appointments during April, which could potentially lead to a surfeit of degree-level job opportunities. The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG's joint Report on Jobs published yesterday (May 5th) showed that staff placements continued to rise strongly in April, even though it was slower than March's peaks. Kevin Green, the REC's chief executive, said: "The Report on Jobs highlights continued growth in both temporary and permanent employment, although the rate of growth has slowed slightly compared to previous months. "The first test of the new administration will be to nurture the slowly improving but fragile jobs market. Innovative resourcing strategies will be crucial in both the private and public sector." Employers are unlikely to make any hasty decisions on how many people they can employ in the immediate future until the result of today's (May 6th) general election is resolved.
