Graduate job hunters looking for a degree-level job could have their chances boosted by news that professional services firm KPMG is to raise the number of vacancies it offers for university leavers. The company will hire an extra 160 graduates - 760 up from 600 - as it claims that the marketplace has recovered sufficiently, Recruiter magazine reports. Richard Bennison, chief operating officer at KPMG, told the website: "We are starting to see signs of optimism in the marketplace and an increased demand from clients for our services. "This combined with our own growth plans for the future, means that we are now in a position to take higher graduate numbers from September. It is about investing today to build the skills-base for the future." The average starting salary for recent university leavers in graduate jobs will be £25,000 for the second year in a row, according to data from the Association of Graduate Recruiters.
