Logica, the IT services company, is looking to double the amount of European graduates it takes on this year after hiring 500 last year and has confirmed that ten per cent of those candidates will be in the UK. This news will come as a boost to IT and technology graduates in Britain and Europe who have had to cope with an over-saturated job market after a number of big recruiters axed their graduate schemes, the Times reports. Andy Green, chief executive of Logica, explained the move towards hiring more entry-level recruits when he told the paper: "Getting public spending under control means employing less people. That ought to be very good for Logica. "We need to be more positive about the things that can be done." Earlier this week, Spanish bank Santander revealed that it was planning on hiring 230 graduates in 2010, as well opening up more areas of the business in which degree-level entrants can work in, including corporate banking.
