New research has indicated that many people working in the UK have pursued a different career path at least three times, which may be of note to graduates. A survey by sector skills council Lifelong Learning looked at around 2,000 people and discovered that one in six respondents has switched careers three times, while seven out of ten report changing at least once. Over one in eight stated changing with even more regularity, the most switch-prone people found in industries including banking, insurance and travel. Commenting on the findings, Carolyn Dowding, education adviser at Lifelong Learning, said: "Changing your career can be a really positive step towards fulfilling your ambitions and aspirations on both a personal and professional level. And making a job switch can be the perfect opportunity to give something back to the community." When asked to forecast at what age they would next expect to seek a change of career direction, 65 per cent of respondents replied in their 30s.
