The national train service infrastructure firm Network Rail has announced that its graduate job numbers have grown twofold in the last 12 months. Over 220 university leavers have taken up positions at the company in the last year, either through the normal recruitment process or via special graduate schemes set up in conjunction with University College London and the University of Warwick. Taking talented degree-holders from across the UK, Network Rail has created graduate jobs in the civil, electrical and mechanical engineering sectors, as well as various commercial and finance positions. Adrian Thomas, head of resourcing at Network Rail, said: "It's an exciting time to work at Network Rail and these graduates have a tremendous opportunity to be part of something that impacts on millions of people every day." The Network Rail Thameslink programme aims to spend £5.5 billion to improve capacity and journey options for passengers and will provide a boost for the company's further graduate recruitment plans.
