Online recruitment vehicles 'growing in popularity'

Online recruitment vehicles are becoming an increasingly popular way for employees to find a job or turn over a new employment leaf, new research has suggested.

A study carried out by online recruiter eFinancialCareers.com suggests that job recruiters' web presences are proving adept at securing applicants.

Joe Davis, head of marketing at the group, said that the online recruiter's applications doubled to 1.8 million between 2005 and 2006.

He also told Online Recruitment that "the industry as a whole is growing too", with research conducted by comScore Networks showing that online career and training presences in Europe experienced 50 million hits in the third quarter of 2006, 11 per cent more than during the same period a year previously.

Another recruiter has identified how online recruitment allows for an easier and more job-specific service to be offered.

Rebecca Cole, senior account manager at CanaryWharfJobs.com, said that the group has worked "towards creating a highly targeted audience of finance professionals, who are specifically looking for work within London's financial markets".

Bernard Howard, managing director of totallylegal and totallyfinancial.com, described how job hunters were generally impressed by the immediacy with which online recruiters display new positions.

"Jobseekers like to see a broad range of up-to-date roles that suit their skills and ability and to be able to tailor their searches to meet their needs," he told the website.
