recruited in the last 12
months
Recruitment in the UK has increased by 6% in
the last 12 months according to an industry report. The monster
employment index has shows that IT, marketing, media and PR
recorded strong growth over the last year.
Sales jobs in the midlands saw the largest
increase in recruitment over the year and although the
index did see a slow down in August with some sectors showing sharp
declines, many sectors are still showing strong growth.
Google has recently predicted hundreds of
thousands of jobs been created in the UK due to a boom in internet
technologies. Philipp Schindler has claimed that even though the
economy is suffering at the moment, internet companies are
continuously growing according to the telegraph.
Schindler commented: "A study by McKinsey has
shown that in France and in a mature economy like the UK, the
Internet is responsible for a fifth of GDP growth. In the UK, given
the rate of job creation that economists associate with a rise in
GDP, this translates into an expectation of hundreds of thousands
of new jobs thanks to the Internet."
Competition for jobs is currently at a very
high rate according to the Trades Union Congress. They also found
that the west of London has created more job opportunities than the
east. The north is also falling behind the south in jobs growth
with the percentage of recruitment being higher in the south.
