Retail industry popular for graduate jobs, survey reveals

Retail industry popular for graduate jobs, survey reveals A new survey has shown that those currently in graduate jobs see retail firms as more desirable employers than those in other sectors.

Conducted by the Swedish research firm Universum, the report discovered that university leavers who have found employment believe companies such as Marks & Spencer, Boots, John Lewis and Tesco are the best to work for.

This comes after the same group studied the opinions of students six months ago, where the majority said that they are looking to take a graduate job in the finance sector.

The new poll showed that those holding a graduate job for a period between one and ten years were not fond of financial firms.

A statement from Universum said: "The focus on attractive employer attributes has … changed."

Tesco recently welcomed 191 university leavers onto its 15 graduate job schemes and opened its doors for 2010/11 candidates.
