Sales jobs showed a "significant" growth during the past month, particularly in London and the south-east, according to new figures. Online sales opportunities rose 21 points to reach 179 during June, the Monster Employment Index UK reveals. Additionally, the sales sector is one of the top five industries which are currently seeking new members of staff, the data indicates, which may be good news to those seeking pharmaceutical sales jobs. The survey also found a rise in online recruitment for the management and consulting sectors, a trend which was described by Alan Townsend, chief operating officer of Monster UK and Ireland, as "highly encouraging". "This is a positive sign that UK business may be expanding and could indicate further growth across all industries in the second half of 2007," he said. Figures for all industries covered by the index show that overall demand grew during the first half of 2007. It is also up 45 points from the same period in 2006. In related news, the Ulster Bank's Purchasing Managers' Index recently revealed that Northern Ireland is experiencing one of the highest employment growth rates of any place in the UK.
