Space sector could provide graduate jobs, expert claims Graduates with degrees from science and technology courses may be interested to hear that research has shown that the global space market will be worth over £400 billion in 2030.

According to Space Innovation and Growth Strategy forecasts, growth in the global space sector could lead to the creation of 100,000 UK vacancies.

This news comes on top of recent research that found that employment in the UK's technology workforce has increased despite the recession and now stands at over 1.1 million people.

With continued growth in the technology and IT sector, UKspace have predicted that individuals with these skills could soon find themselves sought after by the space industry.

Richard Peckham, chairman of UKspace, said: "A lot of the jobs are really based within the electronics, software and IT industry.

"The upstream [engineering, hardware and software production] has got quite a lot in common with aerospace, but roughly the downstream [applications built on top of the upstream] is somewhere between five and ten times bigger than the upstream manufacturing side. So that's typically the ratio that we would expect."ADNFCR-834-ID-19619141-ADNFCR
