Employers are being urged to improve their staff retention plans

Sales recruitment sector and the industry vital in developing the UK’s skills policyAround 40% of the UK’s workforce is predicted to change jobs in 2012

It is predicted that around 40% of employees will change their jobs during 2012. Graduates on average spend 1.8 years in their role before leaving to another graduate position as they see this as the quickest way to progress.

Companies face the difficulty in boosting staff retention even though employee commitment levels being high. The global study by Lumesse has highlighted that around one third of employees expect to leave their current job in the near future.

The main reason for employees moving on was their belief that their talents aren’t properly utilised, 81% of respondents felt that their employees did not see their potential or use it.

Chief executive officer at Lumesse Matthew Parker said it is a shame that so many people are looking to move jobs despite being happy in their current positions.

"If employers can combine that happiness with better career management then the benefits are obvious - better retention, better performance and higher productivity," he commented.
