UK firms report optimism over their recruitment plans for 2012 The UK labour market may be turning a corner according to a recent survey of more than 2,000 firms. The figures suggest that more firms are looking at recruiting staff rather than letting people go, and many businesses are encouraged by recent economic growth.
The Bank of England has predicted that the UK will continue to go in and out of economic growth in 2012, yet many firms believe the job market has ‘turned a corner’ and will keep improving. Many businesses are still slow emerging out of 2011, staying cautious and slowly starting to recruit more in permanent positions.
The Olympics is having a huge affect on the jobs outlook for London and surrounding areas, with many firms taking on more permanent staff. Firms are also Buoyed by governor Sir Mervyn King’s comment that he expects the economy to avoid a double-dip recession.
