With the University education system becoming a competitive market place, students are going to be given a guide on consumer facts and figures
Students are set to pay £9,000 a year for tuition fees so they are going to want to know what they are getting, and a guide on how to decide. Universities will have to provide key information on courses and accommodation so they can make comparisons and get value for money.
University prospectuses are going to replace the fancy pictures of modern buildings with pie charts on graduates who gained graduate jobs and average results for courses in a bid to lure the top students.
The data universities will be told to supply will be to show the average earnings of recent graduates, rental costs in the area, teaching hours and student satisfaction ratings which will be based on the results of the national student survey.
A student handout has been produced setting out their consumer rights to make sure that universities keep to their word, maybe meaning that some of the tuition fee is paid back if some criteria isn’t met.
