The University of Manchester has introduced a new campaign which aims to encourage graduates to stay in the city. Entitled The Manchester Graduate Internship Programme, the scheme will offer graduates work experience with businesses in the area, reports the Manchester Evening News. The main aim of the campaign is to make sure that local employers have access to the best talent from the city's top university. Internships set up by the campaign can last up to twelve months, with the Co-operative Group being one of the first organisations to express an interest in taking part. Hannah Slaney, graduate recruitment manager at the Co-operative Group, told the paper: "Manchester University graduates can hit the ground running." The number of talented graduates in the city was a factor in the Bank of New York setting up a European base in Manchester Piccadilly.
