Employees are spending hours looking for jobs online whilst at work

google jobs 150A recent survey has found that many jobseekers look for jobs at work

A survey by Monster.co.uk has found that jobseekers use work hours to search for other jobs online or through recruitment agencies.

Monster.co.uk surveyed 2,000 jobseekers and asked them how they go about searching for a job and found that more than a quarter risk their current job to look for other work.

Many graduates spend 9 months in a role before switching jobs in an aim to gain experience and progress quickly through their career. Therefore with many of the people questioned spending 5-10 hours a week searching for a new job at work, it is important for businesses taking this into account when hiring graduates and providing a package that will reduce the turnover of graduates.

Online job boards and recruitment agencies have made it a lot easier for people to constantly switch jobs. Half of the respondents also keep a CV at work which they update, and 49% also applied for other roles while at work. Just 40% thought their boss knew what they were looking at online and 12% were caught in the act.
