Women working in auditing roles earn an average of five per cent less than men doing the same job, according to new research. A study conducted by Longbridge Search & Selection revealed that the average salary for women was £65,189, compared to £68,189 for men. Furthermore, the survey indicated that the number of women entering into audit roles relatively low when compared to their male counterparts, with just 25 per cent of auditors taking in-house roles in the City being female. Commenting on the findings, John Lacey, managing director of Longbridge Search & Selection, said: "We may be seeing fewer women going for senior in-house roles because of the perceived 'City boy' culture of banking. "But in spite of the growing number of women at the top we're still not seeing enough of a balance between the sexes moving into these roles."
