Clarissa Gent wins 2006 National Sales Award having achieved 100%+ of sales targets since joining hosting provider Rackspace Managed Hosting.

A 24 year old graduate selected, placed and trained by Pareto Law has been awarded the 'Young Sales Professional of the Year - Services 2006' award at this year's National Sales Awards held in London.

Clarissa Gent, who graduated from Manchester University with a degree in Chemistry, was nominated for the award by Rackspace Sales Director Colin Bell, and Sales Manager Andy Gibbons, having achieved 100%+ of her sales targets every month since joining managed hosting provider Rackspace in September 2003.

Initially part of Rackspace's 'Q team', responsible for lead generation across the UK and USA, Clarissa helped the team of four develop 90% of Rackspace's new business activity before being promoted to the Managed Sales team selling solutions to companies including Renault and Nikon.

Specialising in Microsoft operating systems, Clarissa then moved on to handle more complex enterprise deals at the start of 2005. In addition, she took on the role of mentoring new team members to ensure detailed training and support was provided throughout the initial six-month period.

In January 2006 Clarissa took on the role of managing the 'Q team', where she had originally started. She is now responsible for a team of 10, all committed to driving the business forward with new business generation.

Clarissa commented: "The award is a fantastic achievement for me and for everyone at Rackspace as it recognises the quality sales approach that exists throughout the team. I am very lucky to work in a role I love, but this has undoubtedly been helped by the training provided by Pareto Law and the support Rackspace provides to its employees.

"Winning the award makes you evaluate your own sales techniques and what you want to see from others. To continue growing in our market we need to have the best sales team and that's a big part of my role now. Because I know the Pareto approach works, all of my new recruits come solely from them - it saves time and effort, and I know we'll get really good quality people with the skills to make a difference."

When Clarissa joined Rackspace she was the 20th employee - today the company employs over 130, with a continuing recruitment and training programme through Pareto Law.

The National Sales Awards were launched in 1997 to recognise the best of the professional sales industry and to award achievement and talent. The Young Sales Professional of the Year Services award is restricted to entrants under 26, and recognises the development of sales skills, results, professionalism and future career progression.

Pareto recently won The Times sponsored Sales Recruitment Agency of the Year award at the National Sales Awards 2008.
