Pareto Graduate Scores in FA
Cup
A Pareto graduate is celebrating after scoring
a goal in the third round of the FA Cup.
Paul Robinson was placed by Pareto with
teaching software specialist Boardworks, where he is now an
Educational Consultant and Team Leader, generating sales for the
company’s curriculum based software while also managing a growing
team across the north of England.
In addition to his sales career, Paul plays
football for Eastwood Town FC, which was drawn against
Kettering Town
in the FA Cup third round. Two goals down, Paul scored in the
60th minute to give his team the chance to attack for an
equaliser and the all-important replay.
Despite the final score of 2-1 to Kettering,
Paul said: “The chance to play in the FA Cup has been one of the
highlights of my footballing career – I just wish we’d been able to
secure a draw. I’m very lucky to be able to combine a great
job with the sport I love – usually people have to choose one or
the other, but I’ve been able to do both.”
Paul played football for the Nottingham Forest
Academy until he was 16, before doing an apprenticeship with
Doncaster Rovers, while studying for his A levels at night
school. When he was 18 he was offered a football scholarship
at the University of Portland in Oregon, USA, where he studied
Marketing Management, enabling him to keep both his academic and
football options open.
In 2005 he returned to the UK and was
recommended to contact Pareto by a friend. He went through
the Pareto assessment process and was placed with Boardworks as an
Educational Consultant, receiving a range of Pareto sales training
to support him in his career.
Since then he has been promoted to Senior
Educational Consultant and Team Leader, while continuing to play
football. His progression with the company has also seen him
travel to Dubai where Boardworks is now working with educational
establishments.
Paul added: “Pareto were great in that they
matched my skills and personality to my employer, before giving me
the training to help me perform in my role. The result is
that I joined a company that supports me in my footballing
commitments, while enabling me to develop my career in sales.
Boardworks has grown quickly and offers great potential, and I am
looking forward to being a part of their future.”
