Senior Business Development Manager (Public Sector)

Base Salary: £50,000 to £65,000 + Car/Car allowance - Double OTE

Our client is a leading provider of fire safety and building compliance services, primarily working with publicly owned properties. Their clients include local authorities, council housing, schools, NHS facilities, and higher education buildings.

The Role

We are recruiting for a dynamic Senior Business Development Manager to secure and manage large-value, long-term consultancy deals within the public sector. This is initially a senior individual contributor position that will transition into a player-manager role. You will be responsible for managing your own high-value deals while also supporting and assisting your team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive new business development with public sector organisations (local authorities, NHS, Education, etc.).
  • Target and secure large-value, long-term contracts, and nurture client relationships
  • Manage the sales process from initial contact to contract negotiation and close.
  • Transition into a player-manager capacity, guiding and supporting other team members in their sales efforts.
  • Maintain a presence in the field, with site visits and client meetings.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in selling statutory compliance or related services ideally within the public sector.

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Extensive experience with statutory compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrable success in securing and managing large-value, long-term consultancy deals.
  • Proven ability to navigate the sales environment of the public sector.
  • Highly valued experience in the retrofitting of buildings to specific compliance standards.
