Selling a technical tool or solution?

Harness apprenticeships to deliver technical selling skills.

One of the best assets to come out of the apprenticeship reforms is the emergence of the IT Technical Sales Apprenticeship.

We’ve aligned with this apprenticeship offering to focus on nurturing salespeople who can be placed seamlessly within the dynamic IT and Technology sectors. There is a very important distinction between 'generic sales skills' and the specialist techniques required to demystify the value a specialist technology product or service can add to your clients. We are the world's leading sales training company and were one of the first to offer the IT Technical Salesperson Level 3 course. Find out more about what an IT Technical Sales Apprentice could do for your business today.

Introducing Pareto's new IT Technical Sales Apprenticeship Level 3.

Over the last 24 years we have successfully trained over 17,000 graduates in technical sales roles, and we have been working with businesses around the country to help them reap the rewards of the IT Technical Sales Apprenticeship Level 3. Our training solution has been surpassing the requirements of the apprenticeship standard.

Pareto's course framework combines the very best of our classroom and digital learning, on and off the job, over a 13 - 15 month period. Build your teams' talent and motivation with Pareto's world class training and development, giving them everything they need to excel in any technical sales role.

Apprenticeships span from Level 2 to Level 7.  As a rough guide, level 2 equates to five good GCSEs, with 6 & 7 comparable to a degree. The level 3 Technical Sales Apprenticeship is an 'Advanced Apprenticeship', equivalent to 2 A-level passes.

Who is eligible for the IT Technical Sales Apprenticeship Level 3?

The course suits people already in, or aspiring to be in, the following technology sales based roles, at trainee, executive, or junior account manager level: tech sales, tech business development, tech customer support, telesales, telemarketing, account management and similar.

Entry requirements can be set by employers, so any new or existing staff can be enrolled onto the IT Technical Sales Apprenticeship provided they meet the basic criteria of being an EU citizen and having lived in the EU continuously for the last 3 years. There are further minor stipulations - If you're not sure if your staff are eligible for the course don't hesitate to get in touch.

This apprenticeship is recognised on the Register of IT Technicians, and is 80% on the job, minimising the loss of working hours for employers.

How does the funding work?

There are two funding structures for apprenticeships: co-investment for companies with a wage bill under £3m and the apprenticeship levy for those over the £3m bracket. Check out our guide to the apprenticeship levy if you fall into the second category. If you're NOT a levy payer then you are in the fortunate position of having the government fund 95% of your apprenticeship training costs. This means you only have to pay 5% of the value of any apprenticeship training you enroll your employees or new staff on. The result of this move is that apprenticeships now offer a more cost effective option than many private training solutions.

Paying the Apprenticeship Levy?

Invest your levy in one of Pareto's best in class new apprenticeships.

The  Apprenticeship Levy came into force in 2017, charging companies with a wage bill over £3m an additional 0.5%. So how much do you have to spend on Apprenticeship training and what courses can you invest in?

From developing unique strategies to delivering the products, services and expertise, Insight help businesses run more efficiently and productively, through their bespoke Insight Intelligent Technology Solutions.

Pareto partnered with Insight to assist in building their expertise in high value consultative opportunities, and recommended the IT Technical Sales Level 3 as a key talent strategy, and business enabler.

Pareto’s apprenticeship team explained the exciting scope and expertise a qualified ITTSA apprentice can bring to an organisation. Together with Insight, a powerful learner strategy was developed, uniquely tailored to Insight’s business needs, and the criteria for ideal candidates to on-board was agreed.

Pareto managed the full end to end process, on-boarding 12 talented ITTSA apprentices in January 2019.

‘It was incredible - slick, fine-tuned and professional, with the calibre of candidates. Outstanding!’
